Is metal roofing a better investment than asphalt shingle roofing?
We think so! Most warranties claim that shingles can last up to 25 years, but we’ve found they rarely last that long. Whereas with metal roofing the only part that you’ll ever have to replace is the caulking, with asphalt shingle roofing, the shingles themselves will need to be replaced over time. So although metal roofing is initially more expensive to install than asphalt shingle roofing, you’ll save a significant amount of money on maintenance and repair costs in the long run.
How does GM Roofing install roofing?
GM Roofing always uses top-of-the-line roofing products and techniques. We install shingles using air nailing to prevent them from falling off as quickly and always apply synthetic paper as roofing underlay. We also make sure that ice and water run along a roof’s perimeter and in its valley.
How important is roof ventilation?
Having proper vents on your roof is important. If air can't come in, then your roof can’t “breathe” properly, and it won’t last very long. We recommend opening up your soffits to improve air flow. As a general rule, roofs installed in 1970 and onwards are usually well ventilated, but roofs installed prior to 1970 should be checked.
